Travel Diary: New Orleans

Three days in the Big Easy and I'm ready to plan a second trip, that's after I recover from my beignet and crawfish withdrawal. It was a quick trip with a wedding in the middle (Congrats Sofia & Joey!), but we managed to hit a few fabulous food spots, take in the French Quarter, and do a little window shopping. Below were some of my favorites:

You can't go to New Orleans without stopping by Cafe Du Monde for a beignet or three; grab a latte and walk into Jackson square for a little afternoon delight. No matter how long the line is, it's worth the wait!

We had breakfast at Mother's which boasts the world's best baked ham and boy, it was delicious. Again, this tasty spot usually has a line but it moves pretty quickly. They serve breakfast all day long and have a long list of po' boys to choose from. Prepare to be STUFFED!

Magazine Street up by the Garden District has a handful of cutesy boutiques like Sincerely, Luxe & Clover where you can find the latest designer and contemporary brands. My friend snagged an incredible Robert Rodriguez top that was on killer sale. Plus, everyone is SO nice. I mean, I wanted to stay inside some of the stores all afternoon just to chat with the salespeople!

Of course, bring your walking shoes to explore the French Quarter and Bourbon street but I suggest also venturing out to the Garden District to check out the gorgeous houses and estates. You've never seen properties like these!

Don't want to deal with the craziness of Bourbon street at night? We had such a blast at Barcadia playing with life-sized jenga and connect four.

The city is definitely comparable to Vegas in that it never sleeps; there's always something to do and explore!

Have you been to NOLA before? Would love to know your fave spots to put them on my list for the next trip!
